Ari Graynor lands lead in CBS's "Bad Teacher" pilot

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - CBS has cast Ari Graynor to star in its pilot based on the 2011 movie "Bad Teacher," an individual with knowledge of the casting told TheWrap on Tuesday.

"Fringe" actress Graynor will play Meredith Davis, who's described as a hot, confident, unapologetic trophy wife who takes a job at a middle school to meet a new man after her husband leaves her without a dime.

The "Bad Teacher" pilot is being executive produced by "My Name Is Earl" and "Community" veteran Hilary Winston. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who were behind the film, are executive producing as well.

The pilot is being produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Mosaic Media Group.

The film grossed a little more than $100 million on a $20 million production budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
