In actuality the psyche has two parts; the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. You will find that every day your behaviors, habits, attitudes, likes, and dislikes will stay the same. The reason for this is because they have been programmed into us by life events. The most common way to learn self-hypnosis is to permit yourself to relax with your eyes closed, breathe deeply and as you exhale countdown from 10 to 1. This will usually result in a light hypnotic state which can be further deepened by visualizing being in a peaceful place such as a beach, a garden, a forest, and so on. Visualization is powerful, by using it in this way your body comes to respond as if it were actually in one of those places.

The reason for this response is that your mind cannot make the distinction concerning what is genuine and what you vividly envision.

You can easily become skilled at self-hypnosis and you will discover that the skill will expand over time and as you use it. Often, those who apply self-hypnosis find that they can become relaxed enough to get into a trance, but then they are confused for what to do next. With self-hypnosis you intentionally make the state so that you can access your subconscious and create transformations in your behaivors and give up old habits.
