Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network?s Rhonda Garrison to discuss ?Today?s Topic.?
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will sponsor its first-ever Food Business Conference on May 8. It will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Alamance Cooperative Extension office in Burlington. This week, Commissioner Troxler and Rhonda talk about this marketing event, which is aimed at food business owners looking to expand.
Food businesses are an important part of agriculture?s $70 billion contribution to the state?s economy, and Troxler says the conference will be a great opportunity for smaller food businesses to learn new ways to expand their operations.
The conference will feature seminars and panel discussions led by food entrepreneurs and the department?s marketing specialists. They will cover a variety of topics, including building your brand, international marketing on a zero budget, protecting your assets, and using smartphones and QR codes to attract and keep customers.
Registration is open to existing food businesses. The conference costs $45 if you sign up by March 31. The fee is $50 after March 31. Registration deadline is May 1.
